Ouch: the body in and out of pain was a panel discussion that took place on Thursday, June 5 2014. Facilitated by Cachet's Owen Ever, the panel consisted of experts from different areas of medical knowledge, as well as a showing of a selection from GRP’s work-in-progress, entitled Numb.
PANELISTS:
Harry J. Gould, M.D., Ph. D. - Professor of Neurology and Neuroscience; Tom Benson Professor of Neurology; Director, LSU Pain Mastery Program. Dr. Gould's areas of research, interest and academics include mechanisms in the development and maintenance of chronic pain and comprehensive pain management.
Amina D. Massey, Coordinator of Community-Based Participatory Research at Xavier University of Louisiana; Doctoral Student at UCSF. Amina D. Massey's areas of research and outreach involve the philosophical, clinical, spiritual and sociopolitical contexts of pain and trauma.
Becca Begnaud, Founder/Director of Healthcare for Musicians (a division of Southwest Louisiana Area Health Education Center). Becca Begnaud's healing practice and educational services include being a traditional Cajun Traiteur, Reiki master and trauma first aide.
The event was a great start to the Cachet program with over 120 people in attendance, both theatre enthusiasts and those interested in medicine.
