Cachet Artists in Residence Saiya Miller and Zach Winokur with Ellery Burton performing "The Eel".
This work of sound and dance explored themes of madness found in the works of "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte, "Portrait of a Woman" by Ezra Pound and "Wide Sargasso Sea" by Jean Rhys. A supplementary essay on women, madness and Victorian literature will be provided by Rowan Sharp.
Dance by Maritza Mercado-Narcisse, Music by Monica McIntyre
Following her most recent work "Evangeline" based on the poem by Longfellow, Maritza explored the theme of inherited melancholy, expressed as the sensation of 'waiting'. Like generational cycles of poverty, can it be broken?
MaeDea
Through poetry and song MaeDea explored two identity labels that she is navigating: "crazy" and "mother".
Additional music provided by Trendafilka Polyphonic Choral Ensemble. There will be a brief discussion with each artist following their performance.
